Melodramático? Não, poético. A vida tem momentos inesperados que nos deixam deliciados. Assinar em baixo dessa frase é uma temeridade, é um lugar comum, um clichê, derrota qualquer autor. Eu lá me preocupo com isso? A todo instante, se estamos de olhos abertos e prontos a receber poesia, a vida nos joga ao colo carradas de coisas boas.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Um sábado, a caminho de &lt;a href="http://www.araraquara.sp.gov.br/"&gt;Araraquara&lt;/a&gt;, decidimos almoçar no restaurante &lt;span style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold"&gt;Ton's&lt;/span&gt;, que é do Tom, atrás do tradicionalíssimo Pau Seco, do gaúcho Beto que está reformando tudo, de maneira que teremos, logo, dois points diferentes, vizinhos. Tom estava para encerrar a cozinha, terminado o almoço, um telefonema da estrada interrompeu o gesto, ele nos aguardou. O interior tem dessas coisas, reforçadas pela amizade.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Duas da tarde, quando entramos na chácara o céu estava negro, quando nos sentamos, a chuva caiu. Escolhemos a mesa junto a janela, dessas janelas de guilhotina, de madeira, das velhas casas de Araraquara, janelas hoje substituídas por ferragens de alumínio sem graça. Caipiroscas geladas de lima e limão, ficamos em silêncio contemplando o aguaceiro. Dentro, quentinho, confortável. Fora, trovões, raios e tome água. A paz estava conosco.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;O &lt;span style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold"&gt;Ton's&lt;/span&gt; está num terreno bucólico, cercado de verde, decorado como a casa de nossa avó, tem jeito de uma fazendinha. De repente me vi nos anos 40, na minha casa, na avenida Guaianases, diante do fogão aceso. A janela da cozinha era frente ao fogão, eu ficava lendo e olhando a chuva, aquecido. Tempo esquecido, nenhum compromisso com nada, a não ser com o sabor e o perfume que subia dos pratos.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Há momentos em que somos felizes. Aquele era um e sabíamos, o que aumentou a felicidade. Veio a sobremesa. Digo, vieram. De novo a sensação da avó, da tia, das doceiras araraquarenses. Das coisas que permanecem. Quatro ou cinco tipos de doces em tigelinhas para degustarmos quanto quiséssemos: doce de mamão, de laranja, de abóbora, as colheres batiam de encontro umas das outras (éramos quatro à mesa, Márcia, Maria Rita, Eda, a prima, e eu), em sons musicais. Foi quando soubemos. A Edna professora de violino? Edna, das mais belas instituições araraquarenses. Daquelas pessoas diante da qual temos vontade de nos ajoelharmos, para que passe com sua simplicidade, talento, musicalidade. Gente assim ilumina uma cidade. Como ela encontra tempo para tudo o que faz? E ainda por cima faz doces?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Perguntem se algum dia ela se lamentou, disse que a vida era chata, complicada, entediante, rotineira, que nada vale a pena, sente dores aqui e ali! Acho que ela deve estar com 88 anos. Belíssimos. Perguntem se fica na cadeira de balanço, ou sentada na varanda, na janela vendo a vida passar, diante da televisão assistindo novelas, ou no portão para conversar sobre o nada e todo mundo. Perguntem, ela dirá: não tenho tempo de viver assim, tenho projetos e sonhos e alunos. E, claro, doces no fogão. Edna que nos ilumina e adoça.
